Ruy Barbosa Map Poster & Print
Ruy Barbosa lies in the interior of Bahia, in the hilly, semi-arid country west of Salvador and towards the Chapada Diamantina. The town is named after Rui Barbosa, the Bahian jurist and statesman who was one of the most prominent figures of early republican Brazil. On the map, it is a compact urban core set in open country, with roads leading out to farms and smaller settlements.
The centre shows the usual pattern of an inland Brazilian town: a main square and church area, a grid of streets around them, and newer districts growing more loosely at the edges, adapting to the rise and fall of the ground. Beyond the last streets, the landscape turns to pasture, scrub and scattered rural roads.
A Ruy Barbosa map poster captures this simple but clear structure: a denser heart, a web of streets around it and open, dry land beyond. It is a modest print that suits anyone who grew up here or has family in the Bahian interior.

Growth on the slopes
Newer districts spread outwards with less regular streets, bending with the uneven ground around the older centre.
Roads into the sertão
Routes leave town across open country towards farms and other towns, drawing long lines through the empty margins of the map.
