Sedrun lies in the Surselva region of Graubünden, in the municipality of Tujetsch, on the north side of the upper Vorderrhein valley. From above, the village sits on a gentle shelf above the young Rhine, with the valley narrowing to the west toward the Oberalp Pass. The railway and the main road follow the valley side, bending together through the village.
The ski area rises on the slopes above Sedrun and is linked over the Oberalp to Andermatt. Deep beneath the valley, Sedrun served as an intermediate access point during the construction of the Gotthard Base Tunnel. Nothing of that underground work shows on a map, but it is part of the village's modern story.
