South of Houston
Houston Street forms the district's clear northern edge, a wide east-west line across the top of the poster that also explains the name.

Mapa
SoHo Map Poster & Print
SoHo takes its name from its position South of Houston Street. On a map it is a neat, compact area: Houston Street along the north, Canal Street to the south, with Broadway along one side and the streets toward Sixth Avenue on the other. Inside, long narrow blocks run north to south, cut by a steady rhythm of short cross streets.
The district holds one of the largest collections of cast-iron buildings in the world, most built in the second half of the nineteenth century for warehouses and manufacturing. Some streets, such as Greene Street, still have Belgian block paving. From the 1960s artists converted the lofts into studios, and the area became known for galleries before shops took over many ground floors.
A SoHo map poster is orderly and architectural. With no park or waterfront inside its bounds, the print is a study in long, regular blocks, and the gentle angles where its streets meet Canal Street and the Village give the grid just enough variation.

Canal Street
The southern boundary runs at a slight angle to the blocks above it, a wide street that separates SoHo from Tribeca and Chinatown.

Zašto SoHo
Mapa koja nešto znači
SoHo is a map for people who remember the district through its buildings: a loft, a studio, a gallery opening, a Saturday on Broadway. Its regular blocks look strong and architectural on a wall.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark your own street or year, and pick Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the cast-iron, industrial character of the district.
