Mapa
South Hadley Map Poster & Print
South Hadley lies on the Connecticut River in western Massachusetts, across the water from Holyoke. Its map has more than one centre, including South Hadley Falls beside the river and the village area around the college, joined by roads that wind through residential streets, fields and woodland toward the Mount Holyoke Range to the north.
The town is home to Mount Holyoke College, founded in 1837 by Mary Lyon and the oldest of the Seven Sisters colleges. Its campus includes Upper and Lower Lake, which appear clearly near the middle of the map. South Hadley was also the site of one of the earliest navigable canals in the United States, built in the 1790s to carry boats around the falls.
A South Hadley map poster holds these layers together: the broad river and the falls, the campus with its lakes and paths, the old mill village by the water and the forested rise of the range. It is a gentle, varied composition, with water and green space as important as the streets themselves.

Connecticut River
The river curves along the edge of town as a wide band of water, with the falls and dam marking the crossing toward Holyoke.
Mount Holyoke Range
Wooded ridges to the north close off the town, their near absence of streets creating a large, quiet area at the top of the frame.
