Regular street grid
The town centre is laid out in a clear grid of main roads, forming blocks that read almost like a technical drawing when printed in black and white.

Mapa
Suicheng Map Poster & Print
Suicheng is the seat of Suining County in the north of Jiangsu, within the prefecture of Xuzhou. The land here is almost perfectly flat, part of the wide plain that stretches between the Yellow River's old courses and the Huai basin. On the map, the town looks like a dense rectangle of streets surrounded by a patchwork of fields, villages and straight irrigation channels.
Towns in this part of China tend to grow in clear, orderly blocks, and Suicheng follows that pattern. Main roads run roughly north to south and east to west, while newer districts spread outward with wider avenues and larger plots. Water is always close by: small rivers and canals cut across the grid and give the otherwise geometric layout a few gentle curves.
A Suicheng map poster is a quiet, graphic piece. Without hills or coastline, everything depends on the rhythm of streets and water, and that rhythm is what the black and white style captures well. It is a personal map, most meaningful to people who come from the town or have family there, and it shows a side of Jiangsu that rarely appears on posters.

Waterways and channels
Rivers and irrigation canals thread through and around the town, adding flowing lines that break up the straight streets and link it to the surrounding farmland.
Plain on every side
Because the land is so flat, the edge of the town fades gradually into fields and villages, giving the poster a soft, open border.
