Mapa
Sutton in Ashfield Map Poster & Print
Sutton in Ashfield lies in west Nottinghamshire, next to Mansfield, in an area shaped by coal mining and the hosiery and textile trades. The map shows a large, closely built town with rows of terraced streets near the centre and newer estates further out. The old industrial past appears in the straight lines of former railways and the layout of workers' housing.
Kings Mill Reservoir sits on the eastern side of the town, a clear shape of open water beside the hospital that shares its name. Nearer the centre, Sutton Lawn provides a large green space in the midst of the streets. These open areas give the dense urban pattern some breathing room.
A Sutton in Ashfield map poster reflects a town that has kept its working-class shape while changing around it. The fine grain of terraces, the reservoir and the park combine into a detailed and well-balanced composition in black and white. It is a map people from the town can read easily, pointing out the streets where they grew up.
