Mapa
Syosset Map Poster & Print
Syosset is a hamlet in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, in the centre of Long Island's North Shore area. Its map is organised around transport. The Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson Branch runs through the hamlet, with Syosset station as a commuter hub for Manhattan, and major routes including Jericho Turnpike, the Northern State Parkway and the Long Island Expressway cross the area nearby.
Between those corridors lie residential neighbourhoods, mostly postwar developments with curving streets, loops and cul-de-sacs rather than a grid. Schools, shopping centres and parkland occupy larger blocks among the housing. Syosset's public schools are well regarded, and they are a major reason many families choose to move to the hamlet.
A Syosset map poster shows how a Long Island suburb works: the rail line and station, the arterial roads, and quiet winding streets in between. In fine black lines the curving subdivisions form a surprisingly elegant pattern, one that locals will recognise immediately and former residents will be glad to see again.

Parkways and turnpike
Jericho Turnpike, the Northern State Parkway and the Long Island Expressway cross the area, framing the neighbourhoods with broad, flowing lines.
Curving subdivisions
Postwar residential streets loop and curve in irregular patterns, giving the map a soft, organic texture rather than the grid of the city.
