Taïbet is a town in the Algerian Sahara, in the province of Touggourt in the northeast of the country's desert region. Settlements here depend on groundwater and cultivation, and the map reflects that. It shows a compact built-up area with farmed plots nearby, surrounded on all sides by wide, empty desert.
The town's streets form a fairly tight pattern, and the main roads run out across the open ground toward neighbouring settlements. Beyond the edges there is very little to draw, only occasional tracks and the faint geometry of cultivated land. This gives the composition an unusual stillness and a strong sense of scale.
