Mapa
Tyldesley Map Poster & Print
Tyldesley is in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, between Leigh and Manchester. The older town sits along a ridge, with terraced streets running off the main road and falling away to the south. Beyond them lies flatter, lower ground: the former mosslands and colliery land that were reclaimed after mining ended, now a mix of fields and green spaces.
The town grew in the industrial era on cotton spinning and coal mining. Both industries have gone, but they left their mark in the dense rows of terraced housing and in the landscape around the town. The Astley Green Colliery Museum nearby preserves the headgear and engine house of a former pit.
A Tyldesley map poster brings out the close grain of the terraced streets and the long line of the old railway route. That route now carries a guided busway toward Manchester. South of the town, the map opens out into the flatter land toward Astley and the Bridgewater Canal.

Guided busway
The former railway line now carries a guided busway linking Leigh, Tyldesley and Manchester. On the map it is a clean, continuous line.
Southern mosslands
Open, low ground to the south contrasts with the town's density. It records the colliery landscape that has since turned green.

Zašto Tyldesley
Mapa koja nešto znači
Tyldesley means something to generations of families who worked in its mills and pits and still live in its terraces. A map of it is a quiet statement of where you come from.
Set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, then choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper gives the terraced streets the feel of an old Ordnance Survey sheet.
