Two lakes
Lake Udomlya and Lake Pesvo hold the town between them, so the settled area reads as a band of streets bordered by long, uneven shorelines on the map.

Mapa
Udomlya Map Poster & Print
Udomlya sits in the lake country of northern Tver Oblast, where the land is broken into long bodies of water, marsh and pine forest. From above, the town occupies a strip of ground between Lake Udomlya and Lake Pesvo, so the built area is framed by shoreline almost wherever you look. The street pattern is compact, and the water does most of the work in giving it a shape.
The town is known across Russia as the home of the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant, which stands on the lake shore and gave Udomlya much of its modern growth. On a map this shows as a planned town of residential blocks laid out in orderly rows, set against the older, looser pattern of lakeside villages and country roads that surround it.
A Udomlya map poster reduces all of this to line and space. The lakes become large calm fields of white, the shoreline a single irregular contour, and the town a dense cluster of short streets between them. The railway threads in from outside, and the forest roads fade out toward the edges, leaving a portrait that is mostly water and edge.

Planned residential blocks
Much of the town was built in a single planned phase, and its housing districts show as regular rectangles of streets that contrast with the curving lake edges nearby.
Forest and marsh
Beyond the town the map opens into woodland, small lakes and wetland, with thin rural roads crossing a landscape that is mostly empty space on paper.
