The nineteenth-century earthwork lunettes south of 's-Hertogenbosch appear as sharp angular outlines. They are among the few truly geometric shapes in an otherwise soft landscape of fields and trees.

Vught Map Poster
Vught sits directly below 's-Hertogenbosch in North Brabant, and on a map the two almost touch. The northern edge is denser and more urban. Heading south, the pattern loosens quickly: residential streets curve around large wooded estates, and the built area gives way to patches of forest and open heath that take up much of the municipality.
Water and defence both shaped the ground here. The Dommel and smaller streams run through low-lying land that was once flooded on purpose to protect the fortress city to the north. The earthwork forts known as lunettes still show up as crisp geometric shapes among the fields. A railway line cuts through the town from north to south.
Vught is also known as the site of Kamp Vught, a Second World War concentration camp that is now a national memorial. A Vught map poster shows the quieter layout the town grew around it: villas set among trees, a compact centre and a long, soft edge where streets turn into woodland paths.

Large wooded estates and stretches of heath fill much of the municipality. In print they form broad open areas crossed only by thin paths, a clear contrast to the town's residential grid.
The Dommel valley
The Dommel and its side streams wind through the low ground between Vught and the city to the north. Their meanders give the map a loose, organic line along its northern edge.
