I-96 corridor
The interstate crosses the city with wide interchanges. Their sweeping ramps and loops are the boldest lines in the composition and frame the neighbourhoods on either side.

Mapa
Walker Map Poster & Print
Walker sits just west of Grand Rapids in Kent County, Michigan. It is a suburban city, and its map has a mix of textures. There are straight section-line roads inherited from the old survey grid, and curving subdivisions tucked between them. Large commercial and industrial parcels line the main corridors.
Interstate 96 crosses the city, and its interchanges are among the most striking forms on the map, long loops and ramps set against the smaller residential streets. Walker also has areas of woodland, parks and creek valleys. The Grand River lies along the northern edge of the wider area.
A Walker map poster makes the most of these layers. In monochrome, the highway ribbons, the cul-de-sac clusters and the square mile grid form a surprisingly graphic composition. It is a portrait of a modern Michigan community that grew up alongside a larger city while keeping its own shape.

Section-line roads
Straight roads laid out along the Michigan survey grid run through the city at regular intervals. They give the suburban patchwork an underlying, clearly visible order.
Curving subdivisions
Between the main roads, residential areas are laid out in loops and cul-de-sacs. At poster scale, these branching patterns read almost like leaves or coral.
