Mapa
West Chester Map Poster & Print
West Chester is the county seat of Chester County, Pennsylvania, west of Philadelphia. Its core is a tight, regular grid of streets, laid out in the early nineteenth century around the intersection of High Street and Market Street, where the Chester County Courthouse stands.
The courthouse, a Greek Revival building designed by Thomas U. Walter, who later worked on the dome of the United States Capitol, anchors a historic district of brick houses and storefronts. To the south, West Chester University occupies a large campus whose quads and buildings form a distinct area within the borough's fabric.
A West Chester map poster shows the clarity of this plan: the square blocks of the historic core, the looser pattern of the university grounds and the suburban streets that extend into the surrounding townships. In black and white, the orderly grid gives the composition a crisp, architectural quality.
