Westchester Map Poster & Print
Westchester is a village in Cook County, west of Chicago, among the older inner suburbs that grew along the rail and road corridors leading out of the city. Its development began in the 1920s with an ambitious plan for an English-style community, although most of the village was built later, after the Second World War.
The map is typical of the Chicago suburbs and still has its own shape. Long straight roads follow the region's mile grid, while residential streets inside the blocks are sometimes gently curved. Along its edges, forest preserve land appears as large, loose shapes that contrast sharply with the neat housing.
That combination of grid, curve and woodland is what makes the Westchester map poster work. It reads as a planned place with a clear structure, softened by green space and a few streets that do not quite follow the mile grid around them.

Forest preserves
Wooded preserve land along the village edges appears as broad, irregular open areas beside the dense residential blocks.
Curved residential streets
Within the grid, some neighbourhood streets bend and loop, reflecting the village's planned suburban layout.
