Bagnoli Map Poster & Print
Bagnoli is a district on the western edge of Naples, on the shore of the Gulf of Pozzuoli. On the map it lies between the ridge of Posillipo to the east and the volcanic Campi Flegrei to the west. Its streets form a fairly regular grid on the flat ground near the sea, crossed by rail lines leading toward Pozzuoli.
For most of the twentieth century a vast steelworks occupied the coast here. After it closed in the early 1990s, a large, almost empty rectangle was left between the town and the sea, and it is still one of the most visible shapes on the map. A long pier remains, stretching out into the bay from the former industrial site.
Just offshore, the small island of Nisida is joined to the mainland by a causeway, and the Coroglio road runs along the foot of the cliffs. The round island of Nisida sits just off the coast, linked to the mainland by a thin causeway. It is a distinctive shape at the edge of the bay.
Posillipo ridge
To the east the Posillipo hill rises steeply between Bagnoli and central Naples. Roads and tunnels cross it to connect the district with the rest of the city.
