Atarra is a town in Banda district, Uttar Pradesh, in the Bundelkhand region of north-central India. The surrounding land is flat and largely agricultural, and the town appears on the map as a clear concentration of streets within a broad field of rural tracks and scattered villages.
The street pattern is irregular and closely packed in the centre, typical of an old market town, with wider roads connecting it to Banda and other towns in the district. A railway line crosses the area, giving the composition a firm straight element among the curving lanes. Small ponds and water tanks appear here and there as pale shapes.
