Churi lies in Jharkhand, on the Chota Nagpur Plateau, a landscape of low hills, patches of forest and river valleys long shaped by coal mining. From above, the settlement is not one compact town. It is a group of clusters linked by roads, with colliery areas, housing and older villages spread across rolling ground.
That dispersed form gives a Churi map poster an unusual texture.
