Evans is a large unincorporated community in Columbia County, Georgia, part of the Augusta metropolitan area. On a map it looks unlike an old town centre: instead of a grid, subdivisions unfold as loops and cul-de-sacs, each tucked between strips of woodland and small creeks. The pattern is organic and dense, like leaf veins spreading from a handful of main roads.

Washington Road and a few other arterials carry most of the traffic, while residential streets curl away from them into quiet pockets. Toward the northwest the land drops toward the Savannah River and the large reservoir shared with South Carolina, whose ragged shoreline appears at the edge of a wider framing. Parks and golf courses break the housing into broad open shapes.
