Karor lies in Layyah district in Pakistan's Punjab, between the broad floodplain of the Indus to the west and the sandy Thal region to the east. The town is also widely known as Karor Lal Esan, after the saint whose shrine is one of its most visited places. On a map the town forms a compact centre in otherwise open, level land.
The surrounding countryside is shaped by irrigation. Canals and distributaries run in long, straight lines across the plain, and field boundaries follow them in a regular pattern. Roads link Karor to Layyah and other towns, crossing the canals at intervals. Toward the Indus the landscape becomes looser, with channels and seasonal land shaped by the river.
