Kenner lies west of New Orleans on a narrow strip of land between two large bodies of water. To the south, the Mississippi River curves past behind its levee; to the north, the shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain closes the map. Between them, suburban streets run in long parallel rows, crossed by drainage canals and a few broad arterial roads.
The most striking shape on the map is Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, which sits within Kenner's limits. Its runways form large clean rectangles among the residential blocks, a scale shift that is easy to see from above. Interstate 10 passes through as well, carrying traffic toward the city and across the lake region.
