Kosamba lies in south Gujarat, in Surat district, between the cities of Surat and Bharuch. It sits on the main road and rail corridor linking Mumbai with Ahmedabad, and these routes define its map. The railway runs as a firm straight line past the town, and the streets gather around the station and the road leading to it.
The town is a railway junction, where a branch line leaves the main line toward the east. The surrounding landscape of south Gujarat is flat and fertile, farmed intensively with crops such as sugarcane. Industry has grown in the wider area in recent decades, and the map shows older lanes, newer housing and industrial plots side by side.
