La Algaba lies on the right bank of the Guadalquivir, a few kilometres upstream from Seville and close to where the Rivera de Huelva joins the main river. The land around it is flat and fertile, part of the vega that has been farmed for centuries, and the town's edges meet orchards and irrigated fields.
The historic centre is a close grid of narrow streets and small squares, typical of Andalusian towns, and its best-known landmark is the Torre de los Guzmanes, a medieval tower that once belonged to a powerful noble family. Newer neighbourhoods spread outward in more regular blocks, and the river forms a strong boundary on one side.
