Molave is a municipality in Zamboanga del Sur, on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines. It lies inland, away from the coast, in farming country of rice paddies, coconut groves and rolling uplands. The town takes its name from the molave, a hardwood tree long prized across the Philippines for building.
On a map the town centre is a compact grid of streets around the poblacion, the civic core with its municipal buildings, church and market. The main highway runs through, and smaller roads branch off toward barangays scattered across the countryside. Streams and irrigation channels draw faint lines between the paddies, which surround the town in a patchwork of fields.
