Moline lies on the Illinois bank of the Mississippi in the Quad Cities, at the stretch where the river runs east to west. That unusual direction gives the map a strong horizontal line: the wide band of water along the top, with the city's streets rising south from the riverfront up the bluffs and on towards the Rock River valley.
The city is best known as the home of Deere & Company, whose headquarters and factories have been part of Moline since the nineteenth century. Industry grew along the river, and the map still shows it in the long, rail-lined riverfront, the bridges to Iowa and the island between Moline and Rock Island.
A Moline map poster sets all of this in clean black and white. The regular grid near the river gives way to curving streets on the higher ground, and the Mississippi's broad sweep anchors the whole composition. It's a simple, strong layout that works well at larger print sizes.

Bridges to Iowa
Bridges cross the river to the Iowa side, linking Moline with its neighbours in the Quad Cities and giving the water edge a few sharp lines across it.
Grid meets bluffs
Near the river the streets form an orderly grid. Further south, on the higher ground, the pattern loosens into curves and cul-de-sacs, and the map shows the change clearly.
