Montesson is in the Yvelines department west of Paris, in one of the large loops the Seine makes as it winds downstream. The river bends around the area, so water borders the town on more than one side. From above, the loop of the Seine is the first thing you notice, and Montesson sits inside it.
The town is known for the Plaine de Montesson, a large flat area traditionally used for market gardening that has supplied vegetables to Paris for generations.
