Muñoz lies in the heart of Nueva Ecija, the broad agricultural plain often called the rice granary of the Philippines. The map is flat and open. A modest town centre sits along the national road, and around it spreads a wide area of paddies divided by irrigation channels and farm tracks. The city is officially designated a Science City, a title it owes to the institutions within its borders.
