Riverside grid
Straight streets meet the riverbank at regular intervals and give the town a clear, rectangular structure that contrasts with the curves of the water.

Pilar Map Poster & Print
Pilar is the capital of Ñeembucú Department, in the south-western corner of Paraguay where the Paraguay River forms the border with Argentina. On a map the town is a compact grid pressed against the riverbank, with streets running in straight lines from the waterfront. The land around it is flat and wet, a wide mosaic of marshes, lagoons and grassland known locally as esteros.
Founded in the late eighteenth century as a river outpost, Pilar has long depended on the river for trade and transport. Because the surrounding ground is so low, the town has had to manage the risk of flooding, and the defences along its edge are part of its modern form. It is also known in Paraguay for textile manufacturing.
A Pilar map poster captures the contrast between the town and the water. The street grid sits neatly at the river's edge, the broad Paraguay River runs alongside as a strong band, and the wetlands beyond add loose, organic shapes. It is a distinctive design for anyone with ties to Ñeembucú.

Paraguay River
The wide river sweeps along the town's western side and marks the border with Argentina. It is the most prominent element on the poster.
Esteros
Wetlands, lagoons and seasonal marshes surround the town. On the map they form an irregular pattern of open space around the built area.

ทำไมต้อง Pilar
