Ābyek is a town in Qazvin Province, located on the main corridor between Tehran and Qazvin. On a map the town stretches along the highway and railway, with residential streets on either side and the southern slopes of the Alborz mountains rising to the north. The land to the south opens into a flatter plain.
The town has a strong industrial character, and it is known for its cement production, one of the older cement works in Iran. Its position on the highway has made it an important stop for traffic between the capital and the northwest of the country.
