Agoo is in the southern part of La Union, on flat land sloping gently down to the Lingayen Gulf. From above, the town has a clear axis. The main north–south highway runs through it, the town centre gathers around it, and smaller roads lead west toward the shore and east toward farmland and the first rises of the Cordillera foothills.
The town is best known for its basilica, a major Marian shrine in northern Luzon that draws pilgrims from across the region. The church was badly damaged in the 1990 Luzon earthquake and later rebuilt. On the map, the old centre around the church and plaza is the densest part of town. Outside it the pattern loosens into barangays, fields and coastal roads.

The main coastal highway runs north to south through town. It is the line everything else hangs from, and side roads branch off it toward the sea and the fields.

The church and the square beside it anchor the centre. Here the streets tighten into the densest block pattern in town.
