The border line
The international boundary runs in a straight east–west line along the town's northern edge. It is the most striking single feature on the map.

Agua Prieta Map Poster & Print
Agua Prieta sits on the Sonora–Arizona border, facing Douglas across the international line. From above, it is one of the clearest examples of a planned grid in northern Mexico. Numbered streets and avenues cross at right angles, and the whole pattern stops abruptly at the straight edge of the frontier, where the US town's own grid picks up.
The town began in the late nineteenth century around the railway and the copper trade that ran through Douglas. In 1920 it gave its name to the Plan of Agua Prieta, the declaration that launched the revolt led by Álvaro Obregón and his allies and changed the course of the Mexican Revolution.
An Agua Prieta map poster reads almost like a diagram: two grids on either side of a line, surrounded by open desert. Border crossings, rail lines and the town's orderly blocks make for a clean, geometric print.

Streets and avenues follow a regular numbered grid across the whole town. The chequerboard is crisp and easy to read.
Twin town
Douglas, Arizona, sits directly across the border. Seen together, the two street networks form a single mirrored composition.

Näme üçin Agua Prieta
Many bar bolan karta
Agua Prieta means something particular to cross-border families, to people who work on both sides and to anyone interested in the history of the Revolution. A map of the twin towns captures a relationship that few places show so clearly.
You can add a personal title and subtitle and edit the coordinates line. The five styles, Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, all suit the town's clean geometry.
