The lake is the largest open area on the map. Its irregular shoreline contrasts with the straight roads and the regular blocks of the estate nearby.

Ambattur Map Poster & Print
Ambattur lies on the western side of Chennai and has been part of the Greater Chennai Corporation since 2011. Its map is shaped by three things: the suburban railway running east to west, the large Ambattur Lake and the industrial estate filling a big block of land. Residential streets fill the space between them in a close, practical grid.
The Ambattur Industrial Estate was set up to support small and medium manufacturers and grew into one of the largest estates of its kind in Asia. On the map, it shows up as long, regular plots and service roads, very different from the finer lanes of the older settlements around it. Many engineering and garment units have operated here.
Ambattur Lake is a wide body of water that gives the northern part of the area a calm, open space. An Ambattur map poster brings together the lake, the railway and the industrial grid in one frame. It is a clear picture of a suburb that grew as a place to work before it was absorbed into the city.

Industrial estate
A large area of evenly divided plots and service roads marks the industrial estate. It is one of the most recognisable patterns in western Chennai.
Suburban railway
The Chennai suburban line runs through Ambattur, and neighbourhoods are arranged on either side. It divides the map with a strong, continuous line.
