Ampliación San Mateo Map Poster & Print
Ampliación San Mateo is a locality in the State of Mexico, on the northern fringes of the Mexico City metropolitan area. As the name suggests, it began as an expansion of an older settlement. On a map it looks like much of this part of the valley: small, tightly packed blocks and straight streets that continue into neighbouring colonias.
Wide avenues and highways cross the surrounding area and divide the dense urban fabric into sections. Small plazas, schools and sports grounds appear as open spaces in an otherwise solid pattern. The flat valley floor explains why the grid is so regular, and it breaks only where it meets hills or large pieces of infrastructure.
An Ampliación San Mateo map poster is for people who live here or grew up here. It records the neighbourhood as it actually is, a dense and carefully divided residential area, without the landmarks and postcards people expect in a travel poster.

Crossing avenues
Wider roads cross the district and give an otherwise uniform grid clear axes and a sense of direction.
Open pockets
Sports fields, school grounds and small plazas appear as pale gaps in the dense grid, marking the places where neighbours gather.
