Irrigation canals
Canals cross the land around the town in straight and gently curving lines. They are the main structuring feature of the map outside the built-up area.

As Sinbillāwayn Map Poster & Print
As Sinbillāwayn is a town in Dakahlia governorate, in the heart of the Nile Delta. Its map sits in a landscape of irrigation. Canals and drains cross the flat land in long lines, and the surrounding farmland is divided into small, closely packed fields. The town has a dense centre, and its edges reach out along the main roads and waterways.
The Delta has been farmed intensively for thousands of years, and the town's role as a market centre for the surrounding villages reflects that. Roads connect it to Mansoura, the governorate capital, and to other Delta towns. Canals often run alongside those roads, so the transport and water networks follow each other closely.
An As Sinbillāwayn map poster shows how thoroughly the land here has been shaped by people. The fine grid of fields, the lines of canals and the compact town create a pattern that is intricate but calm. In black and white it becomes a detailed, almost woven surface.

Dense town centre
The core is made of tightly packed blocks and narrow streets. On the poster it appears as a dark, detailed cluster in the middle of open farmland.
Small-field mosaic
The farmland around the town is divided into many narrow plots. Their boundaries create a fine, repeating texture that fills the edges of the frame.
