Bagulā is a town in the Nadia district of West Bengal, in eastern India, not far from the border with Bangladesh. It lies on the level Gangetic delta plain, where there are no hills to shape the streets. Instead, the map is organised by the railway, by a few main roads and by the water that sits everywhere in this landscape.
Rural Bengal is marked by ponds, tanks and small water bodies, many dug for fishing, irrigation or household use. From above, they appear as dozens of small shapes scattered between houses and fields, giving the map a speckled texture that is very characteristic of the region.
