Barra Bonita Map Poster & Print
Barra Bonita lies in the interior of São Paulo state, on the Tietê River where a dam has created a wide reservoir. From above, the town spreads along the southern shore in a regular pattern of blocks. Across the river lies Igaraçu do Tietê, and a bridge links the two towns into a single riverside pair.
The dam at Barra Bonita includes a navigation lock, part of the Tietê–Paraná waterway, which carries cargo barges through the interior of Brazil. The lock and the reservoir have made the town a destination for river tourism, with boat trips that pass through the lock itself. Sugarcane fields cover much of the surrounding countryside.
A Barra Bonita map poster shows the wide sweep of the reservoir, the straight line of the dam, the bridge and the orderly street grid on the bank. It is a balanced, attractive composition for anyone who knows the Tietê or grew up in the region.
