Begūn lies in the Chittorgarh district of southern Rajasthan, on the broad upland of the Mewar region. From above, the town is a tight cluster of irregular lanes that loosen into farm tracks and scattered hamlets. The town is associated with a historic fort that once served as the seat of a local estate under Mewar.
