Beyla lies in the Nzérékoré Region of southeastern Guinea, in the forest highlands near the borders with Côte d'Ivoire and Liberia. The surrounding country is hilly and green, and the town serves as an administrative and market centre for a wide rural area.
From above, the town appears as a loose network of streets rather than a dense grid, with built-up areas spreading across uneven ground and giving way gradually to fields and woodland.
