Canal de l'Ourcq
The canal cuts a long, perfectly straight line along the south of the town, a nineteenth-century piece of engineering that still organises the map.

Bobigny Map Poster
Bobigny, northeast of Paris, is the prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis, and its map shows a town largely rebuilt in the second half of the twentieth century. Large housing estates and administrative buildings sit beside small blocks of older detached houses. Major roads, including the A86 motorway, cut through the area in wide bands.
The Canal de l'Ourcq runs along the south of the town in a long, straight line of water, one of the canals built to supply Paris. Line 5 of the Paris Métro ends at Bobigny–Pablo Picasso, close to the prefecture. The former Bobigny deportation station, now a memorial site, is a reminder of the town's role during the Second World War.
A Bobigny map poster shows the contrast of the inner suburbs: wide modernist footprints next to fine pavilion streets, cut by the canal and by major roads. In black and white it becomes a clear, almost architectural drawing.

Prefecture district
Around the prefecture and the metro terminus, large administrative blocks and open plazas form the town's most monumental and geometric area.
Pavilion streets
Between the estates are older neighbourhoods of detached houses on narrow lots. Their fine grain contrasts with the large blocks next to them.
