Borūjen stands on a high plateau in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, one of the most elevated provinces in Iran. Because the land around it is broad and level, the town spreads out easily. Its main avenues run straight, and the blocks are fairly regular. The ridges of the Zagros keep their distance at the horizon rather than hemming the streets in.
The altitude brings long, cold winters, and Borūjen is often mentioned among the coldest towns in the country.
