Cachoeiras de Macacu Map Poster & Print
Cachoeiras de Macacu lies in the interior of Rio de Janeiro state, where the lowlands around Guanabara Bay meet the steep mountains of the Serra do Mar. The name refers to the waterfalls of the Macacu River, which comes down from the highlands and runs through the municipality toward the bay.
On a map, the town centre sits in the valley, with streets following the river and the main road. Above it, the terrain rises quickly into forest. Much of the upland area is protected, including part of the Três Picos State Park, and the map becomes a maze of contour-hugging roads and streams.
The municipality covers a wide area in which small districts are scattered among farmland and forest, so the map is quieter than a typical city plan. A Cachoeiras de Macacu map poster shows the contrast between the narrow valley settlement and the large green mountains that rise behind it.

Serra slopes
Steep forested hills rise behind the valley, and roads twist through them. They give the edges of the map a lively, irregular texture.
Protected highlands
Part of the Três Picos State Park lies within the municipality, and its large unbuilt area shows as open space on the poster.
