Charlotte Map Poster & Print
Charlotte grew from a crossroads, and the map still shows it. Uptown is centred on the intersection of Trade and Tryon streets, dividing the core into four historic wards. A tight inner loop of highways wraps around this centre, and beyond it the street pattern loosens into curving residential roads spread over the gently rolling Piedmont.
Named after Queen Charlotte, wife of George III, the city is often called the Queen City. It has become one of the largest banking centres in the United States, which explains the cluster of towers in Uptown. Much of the rest of the city is known for its dense tree canopy, which softens the view from above.
A Charlotte map poster shows how the city radiates from its crossroads: main roads leave Uptown like spokes, and the outer Interstate 485 ring loops around the edge. Creeks and greenways trace thin irregular lines between neighbourhoods, while the wards around the centre keep their tidy grid.

Inner and outer loops
A short highway loop encircles Uptown, and Interstate 485 draws a much larger ring around the city, giving the map two clear concentric frames.
Winding neighbourhoods
Outside the core, streets curve and branch across rolling ground, with creek corridors and greenways forming lighter bands between residential areas.
