Chigorodó lies in the Urabá region of northwestern Antioquia. It is in the flat lowland between the Abibe mountain range to the east and the Gulf of Urabá to the west. On a map, the town is a compact grid of streets beside the Chigorodó River, surrounded by the regular rectangles of plantations.
The main road through Urabá passes the town and connects it with neighbouring municipalities to the north and to Medellín across the mountains. The streets of the centre follow a simple Spanish-American plan around a central plaza. Newer neighbourhoods spread outward along the highway and the riverbanks.
