Dano is the capital of Ioba province in the Sud-Ouest region of Burkina Faso, in the country of the Dagara people. The land is greener here than in the north, with wooded savanna, cultivated fields and scattered trees. The town lies on the road network that links it with Diébougou and the routes towards Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso.
On the map, the centre shows a simple grid of administrative and commercial streets, with a market, offices and schools grouped together. Beyond this core, the pattern loosens into residential quarters and then into dispersed farm compounds. Unpaved tracks lead out from the town into the fields in all directions.
