Divo lies in the south of Ivory Coast, inland from the lagoons and set in a green landscape of plantations and remaining forest. On the map it is a crossroads town. Regional roads meet near its centre, and neighbourhoods have grown outward along them in a spreading, irregular pattern. Residential streets fill in the spaces between the main arteries, and farm tracks lead away beyond the edge of town.
The town is the capital of the Lôh-Djiboua region, in the Gôh-Djiboua district, and it is an important market centre for the cocoa and coffee grown in the surrounding countryside. A road links it toward the coast and Abidjan, which makes Divo a regular stop for goods moving between the plantations and the ports.
