Duque de Caxias Map Poster & Print
Duque de Caxias lies just north of the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the lowland known as the Baixada Fluminense. Its territory runs from the edge of Guanabara Bay in the south up toward the forested hills of the Serra do Mar in the north, so the map moves from wetlands and industry to denser neighbourhoods and then to green slopes.
The Rodovia Washington Luís cuts through the municipality as the main route out of Rio toward Petrópolis, and the Petrobras refinery known as REDUC occupies a large site near the bay. The city takes its name from Luís Alves de Lima e Silva, the Duke of Caxias, who was born in the area.
A Duque de Caxias map poster gathers these layers in one frame: highway, rail lines, the curved shore of the bay and the dense residential blocks between them. In black and white the city reads on its own terms, not as a suburb at the edge of a Rio map.

Guanabara Bay shore
To the south the land meets the bay through mangroves and low wetlands, which gives the map a soft, irregular edge.
Rising toward the hills
In the north the streets thin out as the ground rises toward the Serra do Mar, and the grid gives way to open terrain.
