East Massapequa lies on the South Shore of Long Island, in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, at the border with Suffolk. Its streets fill the flat plain in close rows. The map runs in clear bands from north to south: major roads and the rail line at the top, residential blocks in the middle, and water at the bottom.
Toward the bay the street pattern changes. Straight roads give way to canals cut inland from the water, lined with narrow house lots so that many homes back directly onto a waterway.
