Ejido Map Poster & Print
Ejido lies in the Venezuelan Andes, in the state of Mérida, a short distance southwest of the city of Mérida. It sits in the valley of the Chama River, and its map is shaped by the mountains: the town stretches along the valley floor and lower slopes, with steep terrain rising on either side.
The main roads follow the valley, connecting Ejido with Mérida and with towns further down the Chama. Streets branch off these roads onto terraces and slopes, and the layout becomes more irregular the higher it climbs. Watercourses running down from the mountains cut across the town at intervals.
Ejido has a long agricultural history, and sugarcane was once a major crop in the valley. Today it functions partly as a residential area for the Mérida metropolitan area. An Ejido map poster shows a mountain valley town, long and narrow, held between the slopes of the Andes.
