Esim lies in the Western Region of Ghana, not far from the Atlantic shore of the Gulf of Guinea. On a map it shows as a modest network of roads and lanes, with houses gathered along the main routes and scattered more widely further out. The pattern is informal, shaped by the land and by the tracks that link it to neighbouring communities.
This stretch of Ghana is humid and green, and the countryside around the settlements is thick with vegetation and small farms.
