Etāwa is in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, and it is closely linked to the neighbouring railway junction at Bina. The two settlements are often named together. On the map, the railway lines are the most prominent feature: they cross the area in long, confident strokes, and the town's streets cluster beside them.
Its core is a compact grid of lanes, markets and houses. Around it, the land opens onto the farmland of the Malwa and Bundelkhand borderlands, where fields, tanks and small streams are scattered across a gently rolling plateau. The built-up area loosens as it moves outwards, and scattered buildings give way to field boundaries.
