Floresta do Araguaia Map Poster & Print
Floresta do Araguaia lies in southeastern Pará, in the Brazilian Amazon's cattle country, near the Araguaia River and the border with Tocantins. The town is relatively young, and on a map its streets form a regular grid, laid out in straight lines across the cleared land. Roads lead out to farms and ranches in the surrounding area.
The surrounding landscape is a mix of pasture, remnants of forest and streams. From above, the fields form a patchwork of large, irregular shapes, with thin strips of trees along the watercourses. The town itself is compact, with wide streets and a central square.
A Floresta do Araguaia map poster shows the pattern of a planned frontier town set against a wide rural landscape. The contrast between the orderly grid and the natural lines of rivers and forest gives the map its character, and it tells a story of settlement in one of Brazil's newest regions.
